Six Survival Weapons you need in your Arsenal
3 min readChoosing a weapon, and accessories is always going to be dependent on what they are being used for. For instance, you might be looking for an easy to use pistol for home protection, or the best red dot sight, to help make hunting trips more successful. It’s no different with survivalism; you need to make sure that you have the right weapons for the task.
Survivalism is a growth area, especially in the US. Although battles against zombies, like the Walking Dead portrays, are unlikely to happen, there are other potential threats. Survivalism is about preparing for unexpected events, such as civil unrest, and making sure you are safe and able to protect yourself, should they ever happen.
What type of weapon should a survivalist have?
The thing about being a survivalist is that you do not know what type of situation you are going to have to face. This is why you need to build an arsenal of different weapons, to suit different requirements. Here are the types of weapon you should think about having in that arsenal.
• A combat rifle which can help you protect yourself, as well as being good for hunting.
• A shotgun which is the best weapon you can have for close range hunting.
• A handgun which has the advantage of being easy to carry and conceal.
• A long range rifle for precision hunting at a distance.
It’s also a good idea to invest in a surplus weapon as back up. They are inexpensive and so is the ammo.
Specific guns to look at
We have looked at the type of weapon you need as a survivalist. Now, here are some of the best guns to fill some of the roles we have mentioned.
Barrett .50 BMG
This probably is not the first gun you will want to add to your arsenal, but it’s still one you should aim to have due to the different types of round you can use. As a sniper rifle, the Barret .50 BMG is not the quietest and most unintrusive gun to carry around, which is why other weapons might come first. But any gun that can use armour piercing and incendiary ammo is good to have around.
AR-15
This is one gun that you will see in the arsenal of many survivalists because it’s quick and accurate. The parts are also easy to obtain. The downside of the AR-15 is that it can be difficult to clean as it operates on a gas-firing system.
Glock 19 (9mm)
This is an excellent weapon for close quarters combat; a necessity for any survivalist. It’s easy to conceal, so that you have the advantage. It’s also a hugely popular weapon, so you should never have a problem getting parts or ammo.
Marlin Papoose
This is a reasonably priced weapon to have in your arsenal. It’s also pinpoint accurate. But arguably, the main advantage of the Marlin Papoose is that it’s so light to carry, weighing in at around 4lbs.
Ruger Redhawk
Many people whose survival instincts have been tested in the wild will attest to the damage that a .44 Magnum revolver such as the Ruger Redhawk can do to a bear. Survivalists can use this weapon to shoot an impressive hole in any obstacles that they may face. One of the biggest advantages of the Ruger Redhawk is that it’s built from stainless steel which means that it’s capable of dealing with more stress than many other weapons.
These are survival weapons which are valuable additions to any arsenal. They can help keep you safe and fed should the worst happen.
