Guns & How to Choose the Right Gun For YOU!
Tyler: “Hey this is Tyler with T Jack Survival. We are here in Provo at Discount Guns. Lots of stuff in there. I am here with Crystal. We are going to help you choose what guns are good for you so stay tuned!”
Crystal: “People often ask me which gun is the right gun for me. Well you’re asking the wrong question. Guns are like shoes, you can always use more than one pair and each shoe works different with an outfit. It’s the same with guns, whatever your purpose is a different gun is going to be best suited for that purpose. So small guns have a purpose and small guns are usually used for concealed carry because they are light and easy to carry and they are easy to conceal. Larger guns are usually used for people that need a higher round capacity. Larger guns are also easier to manipulate so when you are on the shooting range and practicing malfunction drills or even shooting a larger gun is going to be better and more comfortable to shoot for a long period of time and be more accurate with.”
“We have a couple different guns here. The first one is a little unique and maybe you would use this gun for hunting. It has a longer barrel; you can put a high capacity magazine in it. It shoots the .22 long rifle. It would be great for shooting some squirrels.”
“You gotta come over here to a mid-sized. A duty gun which is great for law enforcement or a concealed carry weapon. Then we move over here to the Ruger 22. Maybe you just want to do some target practice. This is a great gun to work on your accuracy. Maybe shoot some rodents.”
“You got these smaller guns. The colt mustang and it’s a great gun for concealed carry. It’s small and light weight. It’s great for women to put in their purse.”
“Then we have this revolver 357 magnum. Maybe you need a ranch gun. Maybe you need to take care of some predators on your ranch or some varmints. Great gun to do that.”
“Once you know how to fit the gun to your hand and you know what purpose you’re gonna use that gun for and you can choose the right gun for the right purpose. Then you gotta know how to use it. So stay tuned this month and we will talk more about that in this series.”

Well, if you are going to compare guns to shoes, then start small. I don’t care who you are or what your level of training is, we all started at the beginning. I have a monster collection but I push and prefer .22’s.
Simple, cheap to shoot, cost effective and just as accurate and deadly as any weapon on the market….From an early age, .22’s have spun as many cans and bagged as many a squirrel as anything. I have as many .22’s as anything else. In this day and time, an M&P 15-22, matched with a simple green dot optic and a pistol light is a tough combination…..The M&P is a good parallel to an M4, a pound lighter and all of the controls are similar, so doing drills at a fraction of the cost. Similar also is my 1911 with a .22 conversion, Gen 3 Glocks also have a conversion kit available. Add a good bolt gun in .22 with good optics, this will be with a youngster for decades to come, they will inherit the skills and discipline to master any weapon, and will always return to his roots.
Thank you Bill!! that is very good information. 🙂
Hi Bill, I also have several .22 rifles and one of them is a Smith and Wesson MP 15-22 although I really prefer to use my single shot Springfield long barrel rifle to kill varmints eating my veggies or hassling our chickens. That .22 is so accurate I can drive tacks at 50 feet.
My EDC is a Baretta 9mm that is fairly small and relatively easy to conceal. And, since most police departments and citizens carry 9’s you can easily barter for more ammo.
However, as you well know, there are a lot of different reasons for a person to buy a handgun that they are comfortable with.
I personally keep a 12 Gauge semi auto Mossburg shotgun next to the bed loaded with double ought buckshot. I live in pretty good neighborhood but there was an attempted late night break in a few months back when someone kicked my door in. Apparently they thought that because one of my trucks was in the shop that I wasn’t home and they made a terrible mistake. Not only did my 70 pound Pit Bull go crazy but the racking of the semi auto slide convinced them to run down the street.
I’m grateful that I didn’t have shoot someone! I doubt they’ll be back and I’m pretty certain I know who is was. Just can’t prove it.
But, I do love my guns. I enjoy shooting them, cleaning them and improving my marksmanship. Fun!
Happy New Year ya’ll. Be safe,
Snake Plisken
